Morocco - High Atlas

Example Itinerary with included meals - (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

DAY 1

Arrive in Marrakech. Transfer to your riad hotel. Evening free to explore the city, with its colourful souks, and vibrant local cuisine. Attend a briefing later at our hotel, where you’ll meet the team, and learn all you need to know for the next few days.

 DAY 2 - 4 hours walking - Medium Effort (B/L/D)

After breakfast it’s a short coach ride, 40 miles south into the Atlas mountains. You’ll see the Berber villages, up to the village of Imlil, where you walk up through walnut groves and orchards, toward your first mountain pass. The steep climb is rewarded by fresh juice at the top. Then it’s a picnic lunch in the sunshine.

In the afternoon you'll walk on to Azib Tamsoult. You’ll eat under the stars or in your bell tent, before a night under canvas.

DAY 3 - 6 hours walking - Higher Effort (B/L/D)

Today is a walk up the hidden valley of the Cascades d’Irhoulidene - with waterfalls over 20 metres high. You'll zig-zag over a high pass of 3400 metres, with views of Mount Toubkal itself. In the afternoon, you'll descend to the mountain refuge below. Here you’ll be welcomed with hot drinks and a hearty lunch.

A Moroccan feast awaits you for dinner, and your second night. You'll be briefed on tomorrow's bid for the summit, before you get some social time to relax.

DAY 4 - Summit Day - Higher Effort (B/L/D)

Up in the dark, with head torches on, tackling the route to the summit of North Africa. Within an hour or two it’s light, and climb to 4167 metres and the summit of Mount Toubkal. You’ll watch the sun rise, stare across the endless sands of the Sahara, and take the selfie of a lifetime.

A return to the refuge in the valley, and lunch, before following the river down the valley to the ancient village of Aroumd. Here a comfy bed, a shower and another well earned meal await you.

DAY 5 - Travel, Shop, Relax, Celebrate (B/D)

A short walk to Imlil this morning, through olive and citrus groves, hugging the streams. You'll head back to Marrakech, to relax by the pool, trawl the souks and see the sights. An evening meal, looking out over the heart of Marrakesh, Jemaa El-Fnaa, and raise a glass to your success.
